A little story about my grandma 💕

I remember watching the Blue Jays win the World Series from the mustard yellow pleather ottoman in my grandma's farmhouse kitchen. It was a huge moment for all us Canadian kids, but that isn't why I'm sharing this story…it was the feeling I had in my Grandma's kitchen with the smell of apple sauce, Dawn dish soap and a hint of nail polish, the hole in the ceiling to heat the upstairs rooms, the creaky door with the handle, the best butter tarts & mac and cheese - it all made me feel loved, seen and cozy (homemade crocheted slippers from the church bazar were required attire).

Although it's been 13 years since we said goodbye to “the farm” that had been in our family for over 125 years, I can vividly remember it as if I was there yesterday. This spring it was torn down which still brings me to tears, but recently I've been having winks from Eleanor (she didn't like to be called grandma and insisted I call her by her first name) - regular blue jay visits, discovering some old letters, a shirt from her, snuggling with the brown & beige (her favorite colors) blanket she crocheted for me and this photo memory on Facebook.

Last night, I read that with today's new moon we are more easily able to connect with those who have passed. I take any advice about the cosmos with a grain of salt, spirit of curiosity and a little bit of magic…so I found it interesting when I was reflecting on how I want to feel during November and December, I noticed that all of those feelings that I'm craving in this season are how I felt with Grandma Eleanor at the farm!
As I end 2024, I want to feel:
Connected, Curious, Feminine
Generous, Present, Thankful
Ease, Calm, Cozy, Rested
Brave, Whole, Confident, Steady
Optimistic, Sparkly, Vibrant
How do you want to feel as you end 2024?
Acknowledging and noting these desired feelings has given me some peace. Although the farm is not a physical place I can return to, it is a feeling I can carry with me and bring to my own home, family, friends and community.
Is there something in your life that has felt this way?
As we start November (on a New Moon), consider setting an intention for how you want to feel for the rest of the year. Being intentional during this busy season may feel like something else on your to-do list, but it can have the opposite effect! Instead, committing to a simple challenge now will help you prioritize you, help make progress on how you want to feel and give you momentum and confidence to prioritize yourself in 2025.
Today, I'm starting my 5th 56-day challenge for 2024 - this one will focus on Connection, Calm + Cozy and Gratitude. I'd love for you to join me!
I have three resources that can help you, please take what you need and make a little time for yourself today. ✨
